More than 1,200 people who work at The Oxford Science Park were treated to a rather unusual and thrilling lunch break as they gathered for its annual Summer Party which included many fun fair rides and plenty of food and drink on Friday 1 July 2016 from 12pm to 2pm.
Every year The Oxford Science Park, which is owned by Magdalen College, hosts a summer party to thank its many occupiers for being part of the Park, and to celebrate being one of the most influential business, and science & technology, environments in the UK with more than 2,400 people across 60 companies ranging from start-ups based in the Magdalen Centre innovation centre to major international companies.
Piers Scrimshaw-Wright, managing director, The Oxford Science Park said: “The annual summer party is a chance for people on the Park to get together for a very different lunch break and for a couple of hours, switch off from work. The Park has a very strong commercial eco-system and in an informal way, this event brings together the many people who work here. It has been great to see so many people enjoying the party, especially the fun fair rides. My thanks go to the whole on-site management team who have organised and delivered an excellent event.”
Graham Bruce, director at Corriculo, a specialist and comprehensive IT recruitment services company based in the Magdalen Centre, the Park’s innovation centre, said: “The summer party is a really nice, added-value benefit of being on the Science Park. It provides an excellent opportunity for informal networking and getting to know other people and businesses on the Park in an informal, relaxed way. It’s great that the management of the Park organises such events, as our whole team looks forward to them!”
Fun fair rides included Crazy Bulls, Superstar and Miami Fever. The menu included: Pulled Pork, Brisket of Beef, Sambal Mee Goreng (v). Drinks included: the North Cotswold Beer Festival with a selection of six ales, and Cawston Press: elderflower, lemonade, ginger beer, rhubarb & apple.
