The Oxford Science Park takes lease on Hayakawa Building,  increasing innovation space

Flexible accommodation to meet high demand for life sciences facilities

Oxford, UK, January 18 2022 – The Oxford Science Park, one of the UK’s leading parks for science and technology companies, has added an extra building to its innovation hub on site by taking a lease on and management of the Hayakawa Building. Adjacent to the Magdalen Centre, the c 35,000 sqft net internal area building is a mix of laboratories, clean rooms and offices, providing flexible space on monthly or annual licences to fast-growing companies.  It provides an important increase in capacity at TOSP as it starts its accelerated building programme alongside its strategic partner GIC.

The building, which has been the headquarters of Sharp Laboratories of Europe since 1991, will be managed as part of the Magdalen Centre which now has a total capacity of over 130,000 sqft.  Initial occupiers include Oxford Nanopore Technologies with others to be announced in due course.

Commenting on the transaction, Rory Maw, CEO of The Oxford Science Park, said, ‘This is an important step for the Park as demand for space, particularly laboratories, continues to rise.  We are excited to add the Hayakawa Building to our innovation centre capacity while we develop new buildings to meet the longer-term requirements of our successful occupiers and other companies joining the Park.’
