TOSP welcomes new Chair of the Oxford Growth Commission

The Oxford Science Park (TOSP) was pleased to welcome Neale Coleman CBE, new Chair of the Oxford Growth Commission, for one of his first visits to Oxford in the new role.

Appointed by the Government earlier this week, Coleman brings a wealth of experience in urban regeneration, having previously led on major national projects including the 2012 London Olympics and the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. In his new position, he is tasked with identifying key barriers to growth in the city and recommending actions to unlock Oxford’s full economic potential, while contributing to the broader objectives of the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor.

During the visit, Coleman met with senior leaders from The Oxford Science Park and the Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT Oxford). Representatives from Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council also joined the discussions and tour of the Park.

“Oxford starts with amazing resources in the world-leading quality of its universities, the talents of its people and its innovative businesses," Coleman commented, “We can use all this as a springboard to accelerate and unblock barriers to sustainable growth delivering new job opportunities and more affordable housing as well as investing in sustainable travel and energy and nature recovery.”

Yong Shen, Director of The Oxford Science Park, said: “We were delighted to welcome Neale Coleman to The Oxford Science Park so early in his new role. His visit highlights the importance of Oxford in the national growth agenda, and we look forward to working with him and the Oxford Growth Commission to help realise the region’s full potential for innovation and sustainable development.”

The Oxford Science Park offers a dynamic ecosystem for science and technology companies that are driving sustainable economic growth in Oxford and beyond. Coleman’s visit underscored the importance of close collaboration between government, academia, and industry in unlocking the region’s potential. The Oxford Science Park looks forward to working with him and the Oxford Growth Commission over the coming months to help shape a bold and effective strategy for sustainable growth, support high-potential innovation, and contribute meaningfully to the economic and scientific success of the region.
