Are you the most innovative company in Oxfordshire? Apply now for The Oxford Science Park Innovation Award, part of OXBA 2018

Wednesday 24th January 2018

Oxford, UK, 24th January 2018  – Oxfordshire companies which have progressed valuable innovations over the past three years can apply now for The Oxford Science Park Innovation Award, one of 2018’s Oxfordshire Business Awards. Open to companies of any size and from any sector, the deadline for applications is March 2.  This is the third year that The Oxford Science Park, one of the UK’s leading parks for science and technology companies, has sponsored the Innovation Award.

What The Oxford Science Park’s judges will be looking for is the development and/or launch within the past three years of an innovative product, process, service or business method. The development should have a quantifiable benefit, both actual and projected, against key performance indicators for the applicant organisation1. Last year’s winner was Perspectum Diagnostics, which detects and measures liver and biliary diseases using medical physics and image analysis. Other entries have come from industries as diverse as space, gaming, technology, computer software and telecommunications. Winners will be announced at the Oxfordshire Business Awards 2018 dinner on June 15.

Piers Scrimshaw-Wright, Managing Director of The Oxford Science Park, said, ‘Every year we have been impressed by the breadth and excellence of exciting new approaches being developed across Oxfordshire. Our sponsorship of the Innovation Award for the third year reflects our position as a leading UK science and technology park with ambitious growth plans, and home to more than 70 innovative companies.’

Dr Matt Kelly, Head of Innovation at Perspectum Diagnostics, said ‘When we received The Oxford Science Park Innovation Award in 2017, it was a great reflection of all that Perspectum had achieved thus far, bringing state-of-the-art liver diagnostics to the clinic. Since then the business has flourished – we have started a new study, joined a €34m research project and gained further regulatory approval of our flagship product LiverMultiScan. Receiving this prestigious Award certainly raised the profile of Perspectum and gave us confidence that we were on the right track, and I would encourage innovative companies in Oxfordshire to apply.’

About The Oxford Science Park

The Oxford Science Park is owned and managed by Magdalen College, Oxford. Created in 1991, the Park upholds the College’s heritage and provides one of the most influential science & technology environments in the UK. There is half a million square feet of workspace accommodation across the Park, which is now home to more than 2,500 people and over 75 businesses. These range from start-ups based in the Magdalen Centre innovation hub to major international companies and include Circassia, IBM, OrganOx, OxSonics, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Sharp Laboratories, Oxford Genetics, ProImmune and Oxford Technology Management.

In addition to being a key property investment, the Park is at the heart of Magdalen College’s strategy to support discovery, innovation and entrepreneurship. It will continue to develop The Oxford Science Park as a long-term strategic asset, with ambitious plans to create an additional 300,000+ sq ft of office and laboratory space on the remaining 10+ acres of land over the next 5 years.  This additional capacity will support the growth of businesses already based on the Park, providing flexible workspace accommodation, and enabling new companies to enjoy the Park’s exceptional environment and collegiate and collaborative ethos.

The Oxford Science Park is located approximately four miles south-east of Oxford city centre, just off the City’s southern ring road. It has easy access to the M40 and A34, as well as to Heathrow Airport and mainline train services. For further information, please visit: www.oxfordsp.com
