The Oxford Science Park sponsors the OXBA Innovation Award for the fourth year

Apply now to be recognised as one of Oxfordshire’s best businesses

Oxford, UK, 14 January 2019

– Oxfordshire companies which are progressing valuable innovations can apply now for The Oxford Science Park Innovation Award, one of 2019’s Oxfordshire Business Awards (OXBA). The Oxford Science Park, one of the UK’s leading parks for science and technology companies, is pleased to be sponsoring the award for the fourth year. In the winning entry, its judges are looking for the development and/or introduction within the last three years of an innovative product, process, service or business method which has had a real commercial or social impact. Oxfordshire companies of any size and from any sector are encouraged to apply, with a deadline for applications of March 18.  In the previous three years of The Oxford Science Park sponsorship for the Innovation Award, the winners have been Oxford Space Systems, Perspectum Diagnostics and Adaptix Imaging, all of which continue to flourish.

Entrants are encouraged to discuss how open innovation and collaboration may have been relevant to their success, and to show a plan for continued implementation and development of the product or service. Winners will be announced at the Oxfordshire Business Awards 2019 dinner on June 14. This is the 25th year of the Oxfordshire Business Awards, which were established to have a positive impact on the county’s business community and promote excellence across all sectors.

Piers Scrimshaw-Wright, Managing Director of The Oxford Science Park, said, ‘Companies across Oxfordshire are developing and implementing exciting new products and technologies, and we are delighted to play a role in highlighting them. As a leading UK science and technology park, home to more than 90 companies, sponsorship of the OXBA Innovation Award is fully aligned with our mission to support innovation and entrepreneurship in Oxford.’

Paul Lowe, Chairman of the OXBA, said, ‘For 25 years, the Awards have championed businesses and those individuals who have made a positive impact in Oxfordshire. Winning an Oxfordshire Business Award brings genuine recognition and acknowledgment amongst peers.’

The Oxford Science Park is owned and managed by Magdalen College, Oxford. Created in 1991, the Park upholds the College’s heritage and provides one of the most influential science & technology environments in the UK. There is more than half a million square feet of workspace accommodation across the Park, which is now home to nearly 2,500 people and more than 90 businesses. These range from start-ups based in the Magdalen Centre innovation hub to major international companies and include Blue Earth Diagnostics, Circassia, OrganOx, OxSonics, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Sharp Life Science, Oxford Genetics, ProImmune, Oxford Sciences Innovation, Evox Therapeutics, Vaccitech and Exscientia.

In addition to being a key property investment, the Park is at the heart of Magdalen College’s strategy to support discovery, innovation and entrepreneurship. It will continue to develop The Oxford Science Park as a long-term strategic asset, with ambitious plans to create an additional 300,000+ sq ft of office and laboratory space on the remaining 10+ acres of land over the next 3-5 years. This additional capacity will support the growth of businesses already based on the Park, providing flexible workspace accommodation, and enabling new companies to enjoy the Park’s exceptional environment and collegiate and collaborative ethos. The Oxford Science Park is located approximately four miles south-east of Oxford city centre, just off the City’s southern ring road. It has easy access to the M40 and A34, as well as to Heathrow Airport and mainline train services. For further information, please visit: www.oxfordsp.com or follow us on twitter @OxfordSciencePK
